Welcome to the Turkish Bathstore
Home of Peshtemal, “The Other Turkish Towel”

Ours is a prime example of how passion and love can turn into a business.  I always had a great passion for various textures of textiles that started with various cloths and clothing left by my maternal great grandmother.  They had escaped from today's Greece and now defunct Yugoslavia and brought with them what they could carry.  Some of these were beautifully crafted and embroidered clothes, cloths of various kinds and types.  Stories of the lands they came from were even more intriguing, the music, the culture & the humans associated with them were even more so.  Maybe that's why I have a degree in fashion with a minor in child development; studied stage costume design and tourism economics in Switzerland, that I am a translator and have guided tours around the globe, been a flight attendant flying to faraway lands. Maybe my great grandmother's people were one of the reasons behind loving music and my trying to understand human nature. Perhaps all that was important enough that eventually I became a life coach too (my husband & Autism also was a contributing factor).  For some reason, music, real estate, fashion, tourism & travel, translations, life coaching, early childhood education, gardening, collecting various textiles and selling them make sense to me and is part of my DNA.  I spent wonderful summer vacations in Edirne, the old Hadrianopolis, also one of the old Ottoman Capitals.  A beautiful city and it's aura brewed with many previous cultures, ethnic groups, religions all living in perfect Harmony and respectfully. Even today being in Edirne still gives me great joy, it rejuvenates me and fills me with  hope for the future.

The ancient Greek and Roman Ruins in Turkey and elsewhere in the world were great playgrounds and seeing the ruins of other cultures built on top of each other never ceased to amaze me.  My birth country Turkey is full of layers and layers of such historical sites. Invariably there are baths in them, started by the Ancient Greeks, used and improved by the Romans.  Other civilizations and Selchuks added to them, and one day came the Turks and added and improved even more.

I love that each civilization and culture benefited from and contributed more, continued and carried on.  History is so very rich and full of so very beautiful things.

I am sure when the humans invented the cloth, they expected it to evolve and it certainly has.  And yet, a piece of rectangular cloth is all it takes for a sheer pleasure after a wonderful bath. A piece of cloth so soft, so absorbent and so wonderful.  So delicate…  Woven artfully by men and women whose mission is to give you a great Peshtemal...

After a shower years ago, my youngest son had to use a Peshtemal since there were no clean regular Turkish Towels left.   After much Aahing and Oohing he told me how we should use Peshtemals from now on.  Eventually my son insisted we go into business so others could benefit from Peshtemals.  And as any good mother would do, I agreed and here we are.

It is our pleasure to offer you Peshtemal, “The Other Turkish Towel”.  We are confident you will enjoy this piece of cloth like we do.  Thousands of people around the world are discovering Peshtemal with joy.

Owners,

SenNur (Shenny) Fahrali, & Her Very Wise Son David Fahrali-Simonson

YOU MUST WASH YOUR PESHTEMALS PRIOR TO USING IT.
We recommend washing your Peshtemals in 104 Fahrenheit or lower.   Although they are pre-washed there might be small shrinkage.  You can drip-dry or put them in your dryer.  Again, make sure the dryer settings are not too hot.
